[Test-Equipment] Heathkit "Laboratory" oscilloscope

      Warning:  I suppose everyone knows but a further 
warning anyway...
      When I adjusted the "spot shape" pot to refine the 
focus I found it was a bit intermittant, just a bit dirty 
from not having been moved for a long time. I made the 
mistake of shooting some Deoxit Gold into it while the thing 
was on. Immediate arcing inside the pot and it went open. I 
used the Gold version simply by mistake but I think regular 
Deoxit would have had the same effect. Anyway, use the stuff 
on equipment which is turned off and let it evaporate before 
applying power. All has been said before but I forgot.
     Fortunately the pot is a plain-vanilla 1-meg linear 
taper and I got a replacement from the local Radio Shack 
store so the thing is working again.
