Howie,

The problem with this use in Amateur Radio, is that Part 97 states 
"clearly" that encrypted communications are NOT to be used.

The historical reference is interesting though.

I believe the FCC would get REALLY warped if a handful of us using any 
of the "KY" or "KG" series devices in our hobby.  Though I "wonder" 
where one would even GET or FINS one!
