          I'm not familiar with these boards but I have 
found that sometimes you need a soldering iron with enough 
_mass_ to heat large objects without cooling too much. Its 
not the temperature but the mass of the iron that's 
important. I have a couple of old-fashioned very large irons 
for soldering where something is connected to a chassis. 
Sometimes a large but relatively cool iron will not cause 
damage where trying to heat with a smaller but very hot iron 
will.
