[Test-Equipment] Scope help needed!!!!

Where on the screen is the vertical line? Left? Center? Right?
**I can move it from extreme left to extreme right and up and down.

What are the readouts doing? Are they displaying as lines of text or just
short vertical lines at the top and bottom of the screen?
**Readouts are ok.
**The problem seems to be that I can not "expand" the vertical line 
horizontally; Like on a TV when you have a straight horizontal line, there 
is no vertical deflection. I think my scope has no horizontal deflection. . 
. .

If the latter, you likely have a mainframe H amp issue.

First step, check the power supply voltages, per the manual.
