The shaft and bushing are both metal on the VAR 1k pots.
I did unseize the shafts with Chemtronics "Trol-Aid" which is really for the 
pot wipers.
The pots are sealed so I didn't get the trol-aid on the wippers.
Maybe I should follow up with some other lubricate on the shaft/bushing 
before I close it up ?

I discovered a long time ago that Asian slider pots don't like being
sprayed with contact cleaner. While it may clear up a scratchy pot,
it causes the plastic shaft to bind and catch in the slot, making it
impossible to adjust the pot smoothly.
