Bob's right - and I was mistaken. Th is an alpha emitter (He4 nucleus
that's too large and heavy to penetrate even a sheet of paper).

Coulda sworn I used Coleman mantles to check a G-M tube with a metal shield,
tho. Must be suffering CRS.
