Hi Bill I believe if you put them in the sun for a while will help, once
they are in use, powered up,  there should be no problem. Telephone
companies had problems with neons used a surge protectors that were in the
dark and used to use a small amount of radioactive sunstance
inside........this was particularly the case in submerged cable repeater
amplifiers.
