I have a 475 scope that I am looking for suggested probes.
Hi,
The Tek P6106 is a good probe for the Tek 475, with 150MHz bandwidth.
If you only need 100MHz BW, the P6105 is good
(originally sold with the Tek 465).
A Tek P6109 will also work at 150 MHz (sold with the Tek 2245 scope).
I recommend that you stick with Tek probes of those series,
so that your scope will display the correct sensitivity.
There is a pin sticking out of the BNC plug of the probe
assembly, that touches a contact on the front panel,
and switches the back-lit sensitivity light to account
for the divide by ten action of the probe.
Some of the older Tek probes, like the P6006 (30 MHz BW)
or probes sold with low end Tek scopes, like the P6103 (50 MHz)
don't have the readout pin. You will have to remember to take
account of the divide by ten effect if you use those probes.
It's easy to mess up if you use a combination of readout pin
and non-readout pin probes.
EBay is a good source for these probes, but have patience in buying.
Often the "grabber" tip is missing or broken.
Expect to pay from $15 to $40 each for good used probes.

Ed Knobloch
