Are you quite sure its marked 606 and not 608? AFAIK no
round meters were ever used on the 606 series and none were
marked as this one is with a "carrier set". The markings are
typical of the 608 series.
Also, AFAIK there was no just plain 606. The instrument
was designed by Art Fong around the early 1960s. The 606B
came out about the late 1960s and differes from the A in
having a buffer stage and a means to connect it to a phase
lock loop box so it can be referenced to a high stability
source.
Its also possible that this meter may have come from a
microwave generator since they use waveguide beyond cutoff
attenuators and must be stadardized for input level to the
attenuator. That would include the 616 series.
