The difference between coil dope and Glyptal is in the type of resin used.
Both are essentially a resin dissolved in a solvent... they dry when the
solvent evaporates.
Coil dope is essentially polystyrene in a solvent.

Glyptal can be bought at GE Supply or some automotive 'speed' shops or
probably still in small bottles from GC or the like. It is commonly
available is a rusty red or clear color. It's also used in the electric
motor and sometimes transformer rewinding business.
