[Test-Equipment] HP-606A Calibration question

I haven't worked on the 606, but I've tackled that problem on a couple of  
my boatanchor receivers.  On my older Super-pro I found that shifting the  
dial relative to the capacitor a little bit, then realigning, helped a lot 
with  a mid-dial error.  In the case of this radio, it was simple to loosen 
the  setscrews on the dial and move it relative to the tuning cap.  I probably 
 cut the error in half.  Before doing this, check the other bands and see 
if  they have the same type of error.  
On my SP-600 I didn't have a big error, and it wasn't clear how to loosen  
the dial, so I just did the alignment to split the error: In your case, 
align at  say 1600 and you'll have some error at 1800, but less in midband.
