[Test-Equipment] HP 200 CD - UPDATED

I compared both HP200CD manuals on the BAMA site with their tables of
contents, and found that Section IV page 13 is missing, and page 12 is
included twice. Page 13 is the troubleshooting chart.

You can download a very good copy of the 200CD manual at this site:
<http://bama.edebris.com/manuals/hp/200cd/>

Choose the "200cd_cleaned" version- it's very good. You will find the
component values in the parts list. The 5AR4 rectifier can be replaced with
a 5Y3GT tube. You can't replace a tube rectifier with silicon diodes unless
you compensate for the greatly-reduced forward voltage drop of the latter,
and that can be problematic. I suggest that you stick with the original
parts.

        A 200CD followed me home recently after being abandoned. It
lights up and does produce tone, although I only had it on for a few
seconds to see if there was any smoke leaking out. Can anyone tell me
the value of the three electrolytic caps C12-C13-C14 in the P.S.?
Also, what is a 5AR4 tube? Obviously a rectifier, but I have never heard
of it. Is there any common type replacement? I suppose a couple of
silicon diodes would do the job if the 5AR4 quit anyhow, but I'd just
like to know.
