   I don't know the equipment, but replacing them with high efficiency
LEDS may be possible and that would probably be the last time you
have to do it.
   I put 3 green LEDs in series (arraigned in a tight triangle) with a
1 k Ohm resistor on 14 Volts replacing a #51 lamp regularly in HAM
equipment (for use in a car) and the results are brighter and with much
better color than the original optical filters with the incandescent
lamp.  5 Volts on one LED with about 470 Ohms.  You could use surface
mount types.
