I've just been looking at the manual for the SPM16, it's available from  
BAMA, and that also indicates the units should be linked via coax. 
W&G seemed to use connectors similar to GPIB, but a bit  smaller, for 
plotter/display outputs so that's something to watch out  for.
I would recommend downloading the SPM16 manual, I suspect that in terms  of 
operation there will be quite a lot of similarity with the  SPM19.
