Carl,

I have bought most of my Bird slugs from RF Parts, here:

<www.rfparts.com/element.html#coax>

The genuine Bird 100M slug for 2-30 MHz lists at $163. Ouch! If your need
is for the 10m band, an alternate choice might be the Bird 100A slug for
25-60 MHz, at less than half the price. RF Parts also sells a cheaper slug
that is supposed to be equal in quality and accuracy. Yeah, right!

I don't recommend buying a used Bird element unless it can be tested before
purchase to ensure that it hasn't been abused. With the critical components
sealed from view, a blind purchase is pretty much like "buying a pig in a
poke."

As the knight guarding the Holy Grail advised Indiana Jones, "Choose
wisely."

Happy New Year!

The title says it all. An equivalent clone also acceptable.
