Gary,
OK. Explanation accepted. But the practical problem with using a phone line
suppressor mounted in 1.5 KW UPS here was the relative physical locations of
the various pieces of equipment. At the time we had the phone line hit the
only component physically connected to the phone line was a printer/FAX some 20'
from the UPS in the room. So knowing that there was a large suppressor at
the drop (but not knowing it had been disconnected since the last time I
inspected it) I didn't see fit to add 40+ feet of phone cord to the already rat's
nest behind the server. :-)
