[Test-Equipment] Mains protection for work bench test equipment?

I have a surge arrestor installed right in my main 
breaker panel so it protects the whole house.  I don't 
remember the cost but I think it was less than $100.00. 
  It took me about 10 minutes to install it.  Well 
worth the time and trouble.

They are available at any electrical supply store. 
Probably Home Depot and Lowes, as well.
