[Test-Equipment] Info needed about -hp- 1707 scope

     I found one available for $50 but it has a problem 
which might be serious. I never worked on scopes at -hp- and 
can't find a downloadable handbook for this one. I don't 
want to buy a manual just to research spending a few 
dollars.
     The problem is that when fired up there is only a dim 
trace visible when the beam finder is pushed and that goes 
away completely in a couple of minutes. Any ideas about 
this? Is this a common problem? Should I just pass it up?
