Good luck on this one. Tek quits supporting any product the minute it goes
out of production. Their warranty policy appears to be exchange for a new
one, destroy the old one, and continue the warranty only for the length it
was originally set for. Spare parts, particularly switch assemblies are pure
unobtainium. I lived in Portland from '91-'97 and used to visit the Tek
"country store" almost weekly in Beaverton. Got some great stuff there, but
no scopes or scope parts. Was taken out back once and showed an 18 wheeler
they were unloading into a crusher. All new unopened scopes returned from a
contract. These were the "spares" that had been sent for replacement in case
a unit failed.
tried to get a 475 fixed and the instrument shop said they would have to buy
a working scope to salvage the parts out of. So why not just buy another
working scope, cheaper in the long run.
The rotary switches in these units (400 series) appears to be the weak spot
by design. After all, if they lasted forever, who would buy a new one.
Google Tek for the forums and groups that have formed for these products.
Thanx

Glenn,
I just noted that I made a typo. My scope is a 475 and it has been out
for so long that I forgot all the problems. I recall that there are
problems with the timing and voltage ranges as they are switched.
I have the manuals for it but I really don't want to work on it if I
can find have it repaired at a reasonable price.
Bob
