Ha!  Good old Carl Korn's salesmanship.  The "patented" yada yada is the 
two #55 pilot lamps in the "signal" circuit.  They act as thermistors to 
somewhat regulate the level.  As Tom said, same as in the 747.  It works 
not unlike the lamp in an HP 200CD and many other audio oscillators 
(including some of B&K's).  However, do be sure to use only #55 lamps.
