Taking a "stab in the dark", I might look up 1854-0827 which is an
MJE13009

Motorola part.....  TO-220 case

NPN, Vceo 400 volts, 12 amps Ic, Hfe between 6 and 30 @ 8 amps.  100 W
dissipation

Sound right?
