[Test-Equipment] Philips PM6676 ?

Anyone ever use a Philips PM6676 counter? I have been using a cheapo "protek" counter that theoretically goes to 2ghz but I've never tried it. It was $129 or something. It is a little frustrating to use because of the sensitivity and gating can cause it to read a completely erroneous number (I am new to test equipment, and perhaps they all have this shortcoming).
So I was thinking of upgrading to this philips counter and I am sure 1.5ghz is plenty for me. Anyone have any opinions of the philips?
Also, I recently saw an HP 5342A with opt002 (able to display amplitude measurement -22dBm to +22dBm) for $200. First, I have no use for 18Ghz, (1-2 probably all I'll ever need) second, this unit is really deep, which is a space concern for me. But is this too good a unit to worry about space? Should I hold out for one of these instead of the philips? I would imagine the philips is more than good enuf for me, but I wonder about the usefulness of the built in amplitude meter. Although I wonder if -22dBm is low enough for radio stuff or other experimenting I hope to do.
Sorry for so many questions,
Thanks
Eugene
