Just my opinion, based on my experiences. You could well be right.

Thanks. I was trying to reduce the base overdrive to minimize dissipation during the
switching period (which can peak at several hundred watts) and improve the overall
efficiency and conducted EMI. I was able to make a quiet, high reliability DC/DC
inverter in the 150 watt range with an efficiency of greater than 96%. Worked like a
charm.
