Simply put, it is NOT a spectrum analyzer. It's a Network Analyzer.

That means it measures the impedance of a network or component as a function of frequency. Typically, they measure both the transmission and reflection of a two port network, and the reflection properties of a one port network.

There are two kinds of Network Analyzers: Scalar and Vector. Scalar measures only amplitude, Vector measures Amplitude and Phase.

Some ANAs have built in sweepers, others use external ones.

They are great for adjusting filters and testing low power amps.
