[Test-Equipment] HP-8555A dial belt DIY replacement?

Hello!

Well, in my continued work on the HP-8555A plug-in, I have finally got to
the point of getting it working electrically and, by now, also
mechanically. But I know it won't last long :-(, as dial belt is almost broken.

I have checked an interesting replacementet project at:

http://homepages.tesco.net/ctowns/HP.htm

But I think I could build some new belts from scratch if I could locate a
sheet of thin plastic material with good bending and stretching
characteristics, as I have a precission milling and drilling machine which
could make the needed perforations with precission; it could also cut the
film to get exactly the needed belt width.

So, my question is that if somebody could locate a suitable material (it
could be also a kind of non-stretching ribbon), I would do some prototypes
and, if it works, would supply them to anybody needing them for just basic
production and shipping costs.

Could somebody help me on this?. It is a pity to see so many 8555As with
broken dials.

Best regards,

JOSE
