[Test-Equipment] Fried Fluke

A knucklehead I know put a Fluke 87 across about 1000VDC in the OHMS 
position. The meter is now quite erratic to say the least. Is it as simple 
as an input component or more intricate?
My old meter had a separate input for voltage and another for ohms making 
it sort of knucklehead proof. If its not too expensive or difficult a 
repair I would like to salvage the unit. Any suggestions or should I just 
save the leads?
