Carl,
As I suspected about the 8554. OK then. The missing 3MHz connection actually
comes from the IF section, as I said, and wiring will need to be added to the
RF/IF interconnect as well. From memory though, the thing will still work
without this, only the "restore signal" function will be missing. I think if
yours says TG-1 series on the back, it needs this mod. The later ones say TG-2.
The connectors and coax inserts for the D-Sub combo are available from Mouser,
Newark and Allied, among others, but the right angle one you need is harder to
find than the straight ones.
You are really not going to find this stuff on the web, I don't think. There are
some manuals on CD out there that are bootlegged from the LOGSA military site,
but are a bit incomplete and very hard to work with. You are really going to
need the original hp books to get anywhere with your problem, I fear. And
trouble shooting the TG / SA combination requires all four manuals really (RF IF
141T and TG).
They were all available from Ed Matsuda, but I'm not sure if he is still active,
I've not needed to use him for ages. His phone is or was: 559-739-8489, and
email: [email protected]
His copies are very good and prices reasonable, although that depends on how
desperate you are :^)
Good luck,
Dan
