First off thanks to all that have helped out so far. Great info.

The idea is to enable a single person operation as far as possible, set
up one end and log at the other end. I already use batteries and
earpieces/voltage meters but it is time consuming and needs two peeps
one at each end. The "intelligent type" device or the battery/voltage
box makes it a single handed job, or as near as possible. Sometimes $300
can be justified especially if you have 200 or more 120 core cables to
go through :-)
