Dave, that 1820-1188 is an HP (Agilent) part number, not Moto. I just
ran it through their parts lookup
http://www.parts.agilent.com/
but it came up empty. A wild-card search for 1820-11* showed a bunch of
numbers in the sequence but not that one. If they have any info it's
usually in the database, and if it isn't in the database the typical
answer to an inquiry will be "Duh? It's not in the database."
Apparently Agilent post-HP doesn't encourage/provide/allow any
intelligence or initiative in this regard.
I don't have the books on that unit but since you know the function of
the chip it sounds as though you do. I'm a little surprised that they
don't show a Moto number for it, assuming it isn't custom. That may be
what you need to find a cross.
Good luck,
Fred
