Dave, that 1820-1188 is an HP (Agilent) part number, not Moto.  I just 
ran it through their parts lookup

but it came up empty.  A wild-card search for 1820-11* showed a bunch of 
numbers in the sequence but not that one.  If they have any info it's 
usually in the database, and if it isn't in the database the typical 
answer to an inquiry will be "Duh? It's not in the database." 
Apparently Agilent post-HP doesn't encourage/provide/allow any 
intelligence or initiative in this regard.

I don't have the books on that unit but since you know the function of 
the chip it sounds as though you do.  I'm a little surprised that they 
don't show a Moto number for it, assuming it isn't custom.  That may be 
what you need to find a cross.
