True but we often relegate old machines to such tasks.

Depending on the requirement, another option is to obtain one of the HP or
Roland GPIB interface desktop plotters which often can be had for nearly
free.

True, but keep in mind that the next machine you buy will NOT have any ISA
slots.

That has already bitten me.  Had to swap my PCII/IIa out for a PCI version
just last month.
