Gentlemen,
I would like to warn others about some forms of government manuals that can
be bought on CD ROM.

I bought from ebay a cd ROM entitled 31 TEKTRONIX manuals on CD-ROM. With
postage it ended up costing about A$30.00 The material on the cd wasn't
worth the cost of the plastic case the cd was in.

Most of it was parts lists which meant nothing.

Consider this, if you copy a TEKTRONIX service manual of say a 7000 series
plug in and scan the pages at 300 DPI and the photos at 400 DPI, then
convert to a PDF document it will come out to a file over 200MB long.

This file will be as good as the original. Imagine how big the CD would
have to be to cram 31 manuals on to the one Cd. Something has to give.
Believe me I have scanned a dozen or more of these manuals and it takes
lots of megabytes and considerable time.
