According to the published HP specifications, the 5384A, 5385A, 5386A all
include an External 10 MHz Time base Input requiring .5V RMS (into 500 ohms)
and a maximum permissible voltage of 15V (dc+ac peak).

Subject: [Test-Equipment] HP 5385A Frequency Counter
Anyone out there using one of these? I'm looking for a new counter for the
bench and this looks like a reasonable candidate. Would like to know if the
5385 will accept an external time base reference, specifically 10MHz that I
have available from my GPS based standard.
Any experience?
Thanks in advance....
