You should be able to get a quieter fan. I have a 5244L and the same
thing, noisy fan.
Another thing, a lot of my older HP gear, same vintage as the 5244/5245 has
had the electrolytic capacitors in the power supplies go bad. Before you
"button it up" after replacing the fan, check the electrolytics. Might
save some time in the future.
