Somewhere buried in my files I may have the info, but I'm hoping
someone already knows: Where would I send a defunct meter movement for
repair?
It's the VOM meter from a B&K 970 Radio Analyst, which I use with
reasonable frequency, and the lack of an intergrated VOM results in a
haywire mess when I am using the power supply functions of the 970.
Unfortunately, the movement itself is a 3/4" el cheapo-junko.
While it's a conventional 100ua, according to the manual it's a
non-conventional 730 ohms DC resistance. I bought a physically suitable
100ua movement from radioshack.com, to find that it, and most other
movements, are more like 1700 ohms - and the 400 ohm calibrating pot. can't
compensate. I experimented with changing the voltmeter resistor values,
which worked, but re-doing them, the current resistors, the ohmeter
resistors, AND the transistor-test values, is more challenge than I care to
take on ... help!
I would buy an entire 'nother 970, if it wasn't too pricey.
Alright FWO, you can say you told me so ... e
