One of the least expensive XY-interfaces is the Softmark
Digital Oscilloscope, A$85 (about US $ 45). It connects
via printer port. Windows 95/98/2000 software is included.
The documents I have at hand indicate 50 ns per division
fastest time base, but no max. sampling speed. I think it
was 20 MHz, but may be less. No XY-mode is indicated, but
again, I think it has. Please check.

See: http://www.ar.com.au/~softmark/page30.html

They also have Four Channel USB Voltmeter, with 2.5 us
conversion speed:

I have a Direct Synthesis Audio (up to 64 kHz) Generator
from this company. It has been OK for several years.
The designs are not too robust, there could be over voltage
protection, etc., but these things work well for a carefull
amateur.

An alternative is to modulate about 1 kHz audio with
the X- and Y-voltages and use ordinary sound card with free
sound card instrumentation software, like Oscilloscope 2.51
from http://polly.phys.msu.su/~zeld/oscill.html or
Osci from http://www.sumuller.de/audiotester (Silicon Chip,
Aug. 2002, p. 12 and p. 58-67)
