My highly prized Ten Tec Omni VI has a worsening intermittent that is becoming almost constant. I know where the problem is located and cleaning and DeOxit does NO good. The problem is mechanical in thr board described and located as follows:
The small printed circuit board on the vertical aluminum panel that reaches from back to front of OMNI VI has a terrible INTERMITENT problem. It has two sets of leads and two connectors going to the board. That is the small board where plug 41A and 59A connected. There s a lot of "slop" in the connections that even allows moving air to move them enough to lose contact. I have sprayed the connectors and terminals with DeOxit but that does not help. I am hesitant to work on the connectors or touch up the solder connections on the board. The TUNE function seems to be affected by the problem. It is a mechanical symptom of the problem with the board and the two connectors.
I suspect the problem is in the small board as opposed to the connectors and leads. If anyone has parts for an Omni VI and the stash includes the small board, I would like to acquire it.
Otherwise, my Omni Vi works great !!
Please email me if you have the little board or an effective CURE !!
Thanks and 73
