Hi Paul,
I have both the Jupiter and the Omni VII.
I am an avid DXer so I have the Omni VII set up just for working DX and I 
use the Jupiter for rag chewing. The Omni has a much better reciever 
especially for weak signal work and I also have the mike audio set real hot 
for breaking SSB pileups plus the reciever in the Omni hears much better on 
CW. I have the Jupiter set more passive so it sounds better to whoever is 
listening to me on SSB hence why it's for ragchew and good enough for all 
around hamming.
Long story short, if you don't do contests and are not a hardcore DXer the 
Jupiter is a good rig.
