[TenTec] Inrad roofing filter in OMNI VI+

I have now installed the Inrad roofing filter in my OMNI VI+ and I am 
wondering how I should use it. Can anyone help me? I have noticed that if 
there are two strong stns close to one another and you switch in the roofing 
filter one station can disappear, but if you are listening to a weak 
station, this station will be very attenuated or disappear all together. 
Shall I use the PBT knob in conjunction with the roofing filter? The roofing 
filter is for CW and installed it in NAR2 position. I engage the roofing 
filter by pushing the NAR2 button. I have no filter in NAR1 position.
