Very common for satellite modems, satellite receivers etc. to be affected by
strong RF fields. Consider the satellite is a puny 20 nanovolts or so,
compared to your perhaps volts per meter from nearby the ham antenna.
Use balanced antennas, use RF bead chokes on the outside of coax, Avoid end
fed wires close to house, off center fed Windom type antennas, quarter wave
verticals, or other strong unbalanced antennas near the satellite
installation. Run the satellite equipment from a different AC circuit than
the radio. (This may mean running the satellite and computer on circuits
other than the station Transceiver AC.
You may find simply moving the modem some distance from the radio equipment
is sufficient. Remember the inverse field strength theory?
You may need to place the modem and satellite receiver in a shielded box, if
it is typical plastic cased devices.
