Hello Ed, tks for the info. I have had a 525 for about 7 years now, it's a 
rig I would never part with, as it is the only one that one can get at 
easily for any repairs. Yes, I have the same problem, so will do that mod if 
and when I have to go into the rig.  Though I must say in that 7 years the 
only thing that has gone is the lamp,  I fitted a 12v one as no 14v ones are 
available over here, but that has now been in for about 2 years and though 
somewhat brighter it is still ok, without any resistor in cctl.      So tks
