Larry,

Has anyone sent the instructions to you on how to replace the filter?

First of all you don't have to worry about the gain jumper setting as
they are the same for either the 500 Hz or 250 Hz filter. All you will
have to do is turn the Omni over on its back and remove the lower outer
cabinet shell. You can then see the annotated aluminum chassis shield
itself. You don NOT have to remove the entire shield but just a much
small portion.

I know your eye sight is not too good from what you say. Nevertheless,
if you have the manual go to page 3-14 where you will see a picture of
the underside of the Omni. Please look to the top, left portion of this
figure. If you don't have the manual position your Omni on its back so
that the front panel knobs are toward you. In this position the RF
heatsink is furthest away from you and to the left. The 9 MHz filter
board is just in front of the RF power amplifier/heat sink. There is a
small access panel on the bottom aluminum shield which you can easily
remove to get to this filter board.

There can be up to three total filters on the 9 MHz board. The
left-most filter is standard (2.4 KHz) and always present. The middle
filter is usually used for the 1.8 kHz filter and the one on the right
used for the CW filter. However the CW filter could be in the center.

If you find you already have an open filter position on this 9 MHz
filter board you have two choices. a) You can retain your current 500 Hz
filter which is either in the middle or right slot and install your new
250 Hz filter in the other slot and set its jumper to match the other CW
filter and then have two CW filter choices; OR b) You can pull out the
existing CW filter and just install the new one in its place and leave
the jumber setting as it is. The filters ARE NOT polarized so you can
install them in either direction.

I hope this helps.

By the way, Should you choose you want to sell the 500 Hz filter at some
point send me an email. I haven't filled that slot and would like to at
some point.

Good Luck!
