Thanks for the suggestions, Glenn.  I've already done the "rock the pots"
test, with no improvement. I'll try the DeOxit next (I agree, it's a good
cleaner/oxide retardent).  If that doesn't do it, my suspects are:  Q1, Q3,
Q2, C11, C4, C7, and a cold solder connection somewhere (roughly in that
order).  That web page you mentioned sounds like a good idea.  I'll let you
know what I find.

I've always liked the Argonaut 509, but never had one until about a month
ago.  I really like it.
