Brian -
I am a 20+ year TenTec owner - Argosy 525, who recently upgraded to an Icom 746 Pro, and sold my Argosy because the wife didn't want me 'collecting radios'. the 746 Pro is nice, love the memories, the display, the keyer, the built-in Tuner, the 6 and 2 meters. BUT, on CW, you've either got semi-break-in, or if you choose full break-in, like us TenTec nuts are accustomed to, you've got relay keying, with the accompanying mechanical noise. It's not hugely loud, but it sure isn't silent, if you're used to doing CW in the middle of the night without disturbing the family. If money were no object, I'd go with the Jupiter for a 'modern' rig and keep my TenTec silent break-in., and get an ICOM 910H for the VHF/UHF stuff. As it was, the 746 Pro on Icom Day at my dealer, with power supply, was less expensive than a Jupiter, without power supply.
