I have owned both. If CW is not your game, a nice corsair (orig) will
do you a fine job. Even for CW, its a real nice radio. The main
difference is two things. The II has an audio filter similar to the
omni V. Only usefull for CW, in my opinion. The other is that the
original corsair came with a 4 pole first IF filter. Changing this to
the optional 8 pole is a marked improvement( standard on the CII).
Also, there are other mods available for the original corsair that
really improve the audio ( most work for the CII also). The C II seems
to be more in demand since it is newer and matches the later accessories
made for the omni/paragon series. The original Corsair is a fine radio
and with the remote VFO, you can do just about anything you want for a
third the price of a new jap trap. Find an original corsair in nice
shape, and you will be a happy ham!!
