Congrats on upgrading! I am working with a friend at the office who has the 
same questions as you have had. He has been having a lot of fun listening 
to my Scout backup rig and is leaning towards a Jupiter.

A good headset is a "must" on my wish list for hams upgrading to HF, with a 
boom mike for sideband operators. I have been very happy and get good 
reports with my Heil Pro Set Plus.

If you get interested in DXing (and you will at least be curious about it), 
my two favorite aids are the ARRL's DXCC List and "the yellow map 
book,"  the Radio Amateur's World Atlas.
