Relax ! This is absolutely normal and did not happen "suddenly":
on 18 MHz the CII defaults to LSB ...

I payed 500 =E2=82=AC for my CII in mint condition with two CW
filters and including the 960/E power supply. It came from
Switzerland but I think this would even in the USA be a very
reasonable price. The remote VFO is another story: it is
extremely rare in Europe ! I bought mine from a Canadian
HAM and payed 255 USD plus shipping. Very expensive,
I know - but I've really been crazy about it   ;>)
