Hi Jan,

I have question:

Doesn't your radio have the standard filter?

The standard filter is usually 2.4 kHz SSB filter.

Concerning filters for a 90% CW operator, I would say
that you already have the filter I would recommend,
though I'm a Omni 546c owner with only the standard
2.4 kHz crystal filter and the three position audio
filter. I did have another 546c and a Yaesu FT-101B
with a 500 Hz filter for CW and 1.8 kHz filter for
digital modes, but found that I could get away without
the crystal filter entirely with the Omni. The other
consideration is the type of operation that run. If
you are a contester or DXer with the need for
detecting those weak rare ones and extra multipliers,
any help you can get will make that more possible.
There is a simple relationship between bandwidth and
minimum detectable signal which will enhance your
chances of success. On the other hand, if you are a
causal rag chewer, the 500 Hz filter should be more
than sufficient.

Regards...
