[TenTec] scout AC supply, plus Omni AC supply question ????

I can't imagine such a problem! I would guess if someone hit it with 30V it might be a little fried, but that would be pretty obvious!
I run my Paragon (same generation as Omni V/VI) with a marine battery and charger making a "no-break, UPS" system and have tested it going up and down and it does drop out at 11 V, but gets cranky and clicky at 11.5. I am pretty sure I have run it from my Astron SS-30M from time to time, as well as an original TT supply.
I believe that the only caution about using original Ten Tec supplies applies to earlier radios, such as the Corsair 1 I had before the current Paragon. The earlier radios had somewhat fragile PA devices which could be damged by high current such as would occur while adjusting an antenna tuner, shifting to a not-well matched frequency or even an intermittant in the antenna system. The TT supplies crowbar quickly under such circumstances to protect the final
transistors. TT also offers an external circuit breaker which can be placed between another supply and the radio.
The newer radios, Paragon, Omni VI, ... claim to have more rugged finals and thus will deal with high current conditions. My experience with the Paragon seems to confirn this.
GL and I wouldn't avoid other supplies. In any case, I suggest tuning/checking antennas at reduced power, just enuf to be able to determine VSWR.
