Astron makes a number of good old linear (non-switching) power supplies that
can handle your scout...
Switchers are very good and light, but can cause RFI in your receiver.
Linear power supplies are also good, but much heavier, and very quiet... A
lot of stations use some of the larger Astron supplies as a central 13.8
volt power source with a Power Pole system. That combination is hard to
beat, in that it is a "set-it-up-and-forget-it" system... like your AC
outlets, except that it provides 13.8 VDC for ALL of your 12 volt devices.
