Hi,
I couldn't resist the fray. I run with the AF gain control up about 3/4
way. Listen for the hum (it's always there), and back off until it isn't
there any more. Then control gain with the RF gain control. That's on a
bunch of rigs, notably the Omni-VI, 540 and K2.
